A consultant for the Canadian Department of National Defence approached us in 2019 regarding support for a major strategic document. The formal document, a report on the Canadian Armed Forces’ Pan-Domain Force Employment Concept, was approximately 15,000 words and required an initial copyedit in Canadian Press (CP) style, with a focus on clarity and consistency, followed by a proofread of the revised document. We later edited and proofread a second shorter, related document: the executive summary (1,000 words). In addition to summarizing and communicating complex ideas succinctly and clearly, confidentiality was a major consideration for this project.
